Busy Bag Busy-ness

This school year is going to be a new challenge as this is the first year that I will be homeschooling with two littles.  Wee one should be starting to crawl soon... (opens a whole new chapter of keeping mom busy!) Then there is the ever busy Tot who never stops moving.  So, I have to be on my A-game or school is going to be repeatedly interrupted!

I just can't believe how fast summer has slipped by...(nostaligic look)

I am starting with a plan to create one busy bag at least every other day for this month to give me a stash for starting school.  I plan on using a kind of box system where there are 2-3 special boxes that Tot can play with only while school is going on with older siblings.  I also have a very excited young lady (my almost 11 year old) who wants so badly to help "pre-school" her brother...that will be an added bonus!

I saw a similar idea to what I created when I was perusing Pinterest.  This is my "park the cars" busy bag.  I am trying to only utilize materials I have on hand to eliminate/reduce costs.  So, I had felt and paint (wanted white paint but it was gone so I settled with the yellow...looks cute I think).

All I did was cute some road like pieces out of the felt, since it's felt they kind of adhere to one and other when placed on the floor or carpet.  I then used the paint to make lines and also created a "parking pad."

Here is the finished product, ready to be stored and placed in a gallon sized zip-lock bag.  I figure I will need a number of busy bags and activities for each day and I want them to be different each day to keep the interest of a 2 1/2 year old!

I put ideas on the index card in the bag in case I am utilizing a sibling helper.  Ideas include, count the matchbox cars while they drive, talk about the colors of the cars, see how many different ways you can arrange the tracks.

All in all I think this was a win, and it took a grand total of 8 minutes to create!(minus the drying time of the felt).  Feel free to comment if you have some other busy ideas!!!
