UPDATE: Turkeys are officially in the freezer. They weighed in at 9lbs 8oz, 10lbs, and 14lbs. Lessons learned...turkeys get big quick but look bigger then they actually are due to all those feathers. Next time I think we will get pullets in May and not house them with the hens as they are just too big. Oh and they loved red ripe tomatoes on the vine...much to my chagrin.
This morning is D-Day for our Turkeys, aptly named Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter. These came to us as pullets back on April 24th and today is the day as they are now having trouble fitting through the hen house door. I will not post gruesome pics but will be back with a post on how it went...
